Southern Plaza

Imperial (pacing north side of fountain): The south and west gates are closed. If you’ve business outside the city, show a writ at the east gate. And be quick – she’ll be closed soon.
Desert Merchant: I made it in from the Estersand just before they closed the gates. But they still haven’t stopped with their questions… My friend is still outside exchangin’ words with the guards. If the parade starts, who knows how long he’ll be stuck out there.
Imperial (pacing east side of fountain): Not long before the Consul’s appointment ceremony begins. The south and west gates’ve been closed as part of the heightened watch.
Imperial (standing watch at east gate): What’s this? No one passes through the gate without papers, boy. Off with you!
Imperial (standing in northwest corner): Do you always talk to strangers this way? Best learn to mind your place, churl.
Imperial (pacing west side of fountain): This gate’s already closed! I bloody hate dealing with crowds…
Imperial (pacing outside west gate): It’s gettin’ on for two years Dalmasca’s been a province of the Empire. You’d think people would learn to accept it.

Imperial: Gate’s closed until the Consul’s appointment ceremony is over.
Imperial (halfway down stairs to south gate): His Excellency the Consul is worried the heightened watch will make the smallfolk uneasy. Be thankful he’s such a considerate man.

Imperial (outside South Gate): South Gate’s closed, boy. Move along now.
