The Outpost & The Stepping

The Outpost

Unlucky Merchant: That’s my chocobo just over there. Has a fondness for shiny things – buries everything it can get its beak on. The most recent victim? All the gil I made in Rabanastre! And now they’ve got the road to the Nebra blocked off… This just isn’t my day.

Wise Elder: Huntin’ the Rogue Tomato? Well, well. Looks like we have a fledgling clan member, am I right? But you’ve missed the mark, so to speak. Heh heh. The mark you’re after is in The Stepping, back the way you came. Go and give it another look, eh?

Energetic Child: Pretty hot, huh? 100 gil if you wanna rest!
It is pretty hot out here…
Heh heh, thanks mister! C’mon in!
(After a brief fade out and back in…)
Come back any time!
No, thanks.
If you need to get in outta the sun, lemme know!
Dantro: Hi there. Name’s Dantro. I’m on watch here. You come hoping to go to Nalbina? Sorry to tell ya, but the road’s not open. Hey, don’t blame me. You’re not the only one put out by it, either. I’ve been waitin’ forever for my replacement to come.

Desert Wayfarer (woman sitting on crate): My father said he didn’t mind paying, but maybe I ought to pitch in a little too. Chocobos don’t come cheap, and with all these delays… I hope he can afford it.

Desert Wayfarer (man near chocobo speaking with Imperial): I hired a chocobo, but for what? They’ve got the whole blasted desert blocked off!

Imperial Watch: No one’s allowed through ‘less they’re on official business. Leastwise not until the Lord Consul’s appointment ceremony is complete.

A Boy & His… Dog?: You stuck here too? I came from the village up ahead, and now I can’t get back. Him? Don’t worry about him. He won’t bite or nothin’. He’s practically family! Cute, huh?

The Stepping

[After defeating the Rogue Tomato...]

(Vaan spots a few red flowers growing nearby.)

Vaan: Galbana lilies? Never thought I’d see them growing out here.

(Vaan squats down to pick the flowers.)

Vaan: This’ll make a nice souvenir. Time to call it a day.

[You obtain a handful of Galbana Lilies!]

Previous: Eastgate
