Nalbina Town

Nalbina Town

Jajim Bazaar
Itinerant Hand (black bangaa in red vest with tattoos): A lot of Imperials buy keepsakes here before heading home. The viera crafts are particularly popular. ‘Course, the seeq in back makes ‘em. Heh.
Itinerant Hand (light blue seeq sitting on ground): Come to help fortify the fortress? You shouldn’t have it too bad. They save the easy jobs for the humes. Me? I get sent off to do the heavy lifting. Those Imperials think the rest of us are to be used as tools, nothing more. Nice, eh?
Merchant: Nestled as it is on the border of Nabradia and Dalmasca, Nalbina was always bustling with trade between the two. These days it’s more fortress than town. At least it’s still here, though. Our home of Nabudis was wiped from the land, leaving naught but a necrohol of fiends behind.
Itinerant Hand (man in reddish brown pants talking with merchants): Them Archadians were all talking, and they didn’t look happy. Heard something about the Leviathan and her 8th Fleet goin’ down! Took some important Judge down with it, too, from the sounds of it. Heh. Serves ‘em right.
West Ward
Imperial (interrogating man off to the side): You report any shops you see selling stolen goods, son. Can you believe I’m here doing this, every day? There I was part of the Western Armada, glorious! Victorious! This war better start soon. I want to be a shield for the homeland, and a sword, striking down those Rozarrian barbarians!
Stonemason? (seeq) (if you catch him by himself): I heard a rumor that someone escaped from the dungeons here, but it weren’t my friend. See, I’m not really a stonemason. I came with my buddy to get a friend out of the dungeons… Maybe if he comes out on forced labor we’ll get to see ‘im. That’d be nice.
Imperial?: Hey, don’t be fooled by appearances… I ain’t no Imperial. This armor belongs to this guy next to me. He puts it on me so he can loaf off! It’s hot, it’s heavy… Okay, so it’s tough being an Imperial, I get it. Come to think of it, those Judges wear armor, too, but they don’t complain… ‘Less they’re saying it real quiet-like behind those scary masks of theirs.
Merchant: Sold a box to an Imperial the other day. Heard he took it with ‘im on some Leviathingy… then that up and disappeared! Wonder where it went to.
Stonemason? (hume) (if you catch him by himself): I came here with my seeq buddy to spring a friend out of the dungeons… but my stupid buddy got mistaken for a stonemason, so here we are… ‘Course, we started getting good at the work, and now the foreman thinks we’re some elite crew… What’re we doing!?
Aerodrome
Imperial: Here to work on the fortress? A word to the wise: complain overmuch and you’ll be thrown in the dungeons, from which there can be no escape! …Huh? You heard of someone escaping? Bah! Nonsense!
Itinerant Hand (hume man with group): We’re here working on the fortress walls, but it’s torture in this heat… That’s why we’re negotiating for better pay! They say that any who complain’ll be sent to the dungeons, but that’s a bluff. They’re in a hurry – they need all the hands they can get!
Shy Bangaa: …I’m here, watchin’ these goods. For hours. You know, I just noticed, a lot of these Imperials are armed! Yeah, observant, right? That’s my job.
Homebound Man: I hear conditions in Rabanastre have improved while I’ve been here in Nalbina. Must be on account of that new consul.
Itinerant Hand (black bangaa): I’m headed to that port in the east, where the sky pirates gather. Once I’ve earned me a ‘ship, I’ll be a sky pirate, free to go where I will!

Giza Plains, The Dalmascan Estersand, and Nalbina Town

Giza Plains
Nomad Village
Tott: Our fathers have gone stone-digging. That’s why the only adults here are all women. Bet you were wondering where all the men went!
The Dalmasca Estersand
Outpost
Dantro: Even a small outpost like ours can mean the difference between life or death in the desert. We see quite an assortment of travelers through here. Keeps things interesting, at least. Not interesting enough for me to want to be here all day, though. Why hasn’t the village sent out my replacement?
Nalbina Town
Jajim Bazaar
Gambitry Banner: Find gambits difficult to grasp? So did I, until I opened this shop. Now I’ve got a perfect gambit for everyone, even you!
Morning Star Gambits: Never shoulda opened my shop in this heat. Buy something, will ya? [shop menu]
West Ward
Imperial (standing at the door of the aerodrome): You looking for the aerodrome? I’ll take you. Citizens are only allowed in sections of the fortress.
>Go along.
Right, then. This way.
>Decline.
If you want to go to the aerodrome, speak with me. You’ll need an escort.
Aerodrome
Imperial (at entrance): Headed into town? I’ll escort you. Much of the fortress is off-limits.
>Go along.
>Decline.
Come back should you decide to go into town. You’ll need an escort.
Imperial (speaking to two men and bangaa): They came here to work and earn a good wage rebuilding the fortress, and now they complain! I’ve had enough of these people.
Itinerant Hand (man in group of two men, bangaa, and Imperial): I came here to work on restoring the fortress, but it’s soooo hot! I can’t work in these conditions! If we’re to work out here, we need good coin. That’s what my bangaa friend here’s negotiating for.
Shy Bangaa: Wh-What…? I’m just watchin’ these goods, like always… Hey, no stealin’, you hear?
Homebound Man: I came out here from Rabanastre to earn some gil to make my wife and child happy… but I can’t take this hard labor no more… Hi, honey. It’s me… the failure. (sigh)
Itinerant Hand (black bangaa at window): Far to the east lies a port town where sky pirates gather. I’ll be one, someday, and that’s where I’ll ago. Just need to make some gil first.

Nalbina Town

West Barbican

Portentous Provisions: I work to earn money to buy my daughter medicine. Please, buy something. [shop menu]

Imperial: Imperial army’s engaged in a sweep of the Mosphoran Highwaste. No civilians allowed. You’ll have to turn back.

Nalbinite: Many of our young men died defending their homeland in the war two years ago. Right here at Nalbina Fortress, they were slain. …So too the King and Lord Rasler. Yet now this place is a base for the Archadian armies. They have gathered labor to fortify the town in preparation for Rozarrian attack.

Jajim Bazaar

Itinerant Hand (light blue seeq sitting on the ground): Come to help fortify the fortress? The wages aren’t bad, aye, but it’s hard work. ‘Specially for someone as slim as yourself. Still they come. I’ve been working here since the beginning, so I’ve seen ‘em all.

Merchant: We first opened shop in Nabudis… And lost all but our lives when the Empire turned our home to dust. Good thing we’d the sense to evacuate! Me and my bangaa associate, he managed to get the shop open again. Now we do good business, selling to the Empire!

Magickery Banner: Moved here from the lost city of Nabudis. Magicks you’ll find nowhere else!

Mysterious Magicks: Come one, come all! Magicks straight from the lost city of Nabudis! I’ve got the connections that make lesser magickers green, no magick necessary! Take a look at my wares! They speak for themselves! [shop menu]

Itinerant Hand (black bangaa): Fun to check out the stalls between jobs. Peddlers making all sorts of outlandish claims. “My simples would cure Emperor Gramis himself!”

Itinerant Hand (man slouching on the ground near palm trees): Say, you know of the baknamy? A violent, greedy lot, them. I hear they’ve made the Nabreus Deadlands their territory. That deathland is a fitting place for their ilk.

Technickery Banner: I said my technicks were good. I never said they were safe. Interested? Take a look.

Troublesome Technicks: Eh heh heh… I got lots o’ things here… none of which I’m at leave to talk about in public, if you know what I mean. Eh heh heh… No? [shop menu]

Itinerant Hand (man speaking to woman in stall): It’s tough work, under tough eyes. Pah. Food and break time’s all I have to look forward to.

Nalbinite: They say a horrible creature that lost a war with the gods lurks even now in the Mosphoran Highwaste. ‘Tis a local legend.

Gambitry Banner: Takes a little getting used to, but once you’ve tried these gambits, you’ll never look back!

Morning Star Gambits: Say there, you know ‘bout gambits? Well, see, they’re like… well, they’re here. Take a look. …Sorry, I’d best brush up on my wares ‘fore I cry them. Come back later and I’ll give it another try, eh?

Itinerant Hand (man walking between stalls): You heard of the Barheim Passage? Legend says you can hear the eerie cry of a woman from the depths of that accursed place. Boss Burrogh knew this and still he went, that crazy bangaa… He’s down there now, scavenging for junk to restore and sell.

West Ward

Imperial (pacing around near entrance): I’ve heard rumors of the creatures that lurk in the lands about Nalbina. Children’s’ tales, compared to the legendary fiends of Archadia! For instance, did you know that a great palace lies buried deep within the earth to the south of the capital? Well, within that palace… …there sleeps a terrible wyrm! Frightening, isn’t it? And if it really exists… there’s a fight best avoided. Let sleeping wyrms lie, as they say!

Jovy (if you catch him before he flops onto the ground): I-I’m a new recruit here, so I gotta work hard, or, or else they won’t (snort) feed me! Bu hweeeeeeee!

Jovy (if you catch him lying on the ground): (snort squeal sniff) M-my hero, he’s g-gone… Bu hweeeeeeeee!

Imperial (speaking to man at the side): You report any shops you see selling stolen goods, son. …I didn’t join the army for this bloody drudgery. What happened to glory? I’m part of Lord Vayne’s Western Armada, here to protect the homeland from the reaching arms of Rozarria, and I’m patrolling street stalls! Should’ve taken that Rabanastre posting when I had the chance…

Sharp-eyed Man: Hold, there! No further, boy. Leave the sweating to the stonemasons, eh?

Armorer Banner: The oldest shop of its kind in Nalbina! Offering you protectives with the best service tradition and experience can offer!

Antiqued Armors: Longest serving merchant in Nalbina, right here! Loved for years, and business’s never been better! Take a look! [shop menu]

Imperial: Headed for the aerodrome? Begging your pardon, but we’re expecting a fleet arrival today. No civilian use of the facility allowed.

Smithery Banner: Come and see our most impressive range of hand-picked, top-quality weapons!

Weapons of War: The Imperials have taken a liking to our shop. Business is great! Care for a weapon or two? [shop menu]

Stonemason? (man pacing western area, if you catch him by himself): We didn’t come here as no stonemasons. We came to rescue one of our friends stuck in the dungeons! But… my stupid seeq buddy got mistaken for a worker… and here we are.

Stonemason? (man pacing western area, if you catch him when his friend is running off): You know... I’m getting used to the heat here, too.

Stonemason? (man pacing western area, if you catch him running): Wh-What? What is it? I’m still on break...

Stonemason? (orange seeq pacing western area, if you catch him running): Yaaaar, it’s hot! Retreat for the shade! Retreeeeeat!

Stonemason? (orange seeq pacing western area, if you catch him by himself): A friend of mine’s kept in the dungeons here, so me and my buddy came to help him… ‘Cept my buddy looked so needy, they thought he was a stonemason and put him to work! Now what do I do?

Stonemason? (man pacing western area, if you catch him walking with his buddy): Listen here, swinesnout, it’s your stupid fault we got mistaken for stonemasons. And no, it’s not making us better people, okay? Gah!

Stonemason? (orange seeq pacing western area, if you catch him walking with his buddy): Hmph. We got mistaken for stonemasons on account of my buddy’s grim appearance, that’s why. No we gotta work out here…

Imperial?: I was complaining to that fellow over there about how rough I had it, and he gave me this suit of armor to put on… It’s hot, it’s heavy, people are yelling at me… All right, I get it, I get it! It’s tough being an Imperial. Now can I please take this off?

Merchant: What? Don’t know what kind of shop I’m running? Well… truth be told, I’m a little unclear on that myself. I sell… boxes? Yeah. Boxes. I pick up boxes no one needs, and I sell ‘em. What? It’s a living. (snort)
